Methanol Recovery and Rectification
Methanol Recovery is one of the most important parts of the production process, second only to the reaction stage. Only a part of the methanol used for the reaction process is actually consumed, leaving large amounts in both the Biodiesel and glycerin phases. To minimize costs and maximize profitability, Biodiesel producers (or any other industry that uses excess methanol in it’s process) simply cannot afford to throw away any of the methanol they purchase. With this in mind, IncBio offers different types of methanol recovery systems:
- During the process stage, we offer vacuum evaporation systems (flash vessels), that recover all the excess methanol in the biodiesel or glycerin stream. This unit can be a set of vacuum flash evaporator, or other type of systems, like falling film evaporators, designed specifically for each process, and guaranteeing high recovery rates and purity;
- After recovery, methanol may have an insufficient quality, due to the presence of water. In these cases a fractional distillation column (tray column or packed column) is used to ensure that we achieve the goals of 99.9% methanol recovery at over 99.95% purity, ready to be reintroduced in the production process.
